Birva Pinto | PhD Student - Bioengineering
Birva Pinto is originally from Angola, and Portuguese is her native language. She earned an Associate’s degree in engineering science from Hudson County Community College in 2023 and a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in 2026. She discovered her passion for cardiovascular research during her first REU at UW in 2024 when she worked in the Moussavi-Harami Lab. Outside of the lab, Birva loves designing her own creations in Fusion 360 and 3D printing them. She also loves playing basketball, cooking (she considers herself a chef), working out, going for walks, and mentoring underrepresented students in her country and in the US.
